FIRST YEAR CSPE:

Using your text book or go online to review what you have studied to date regarding the two Human Right activists Malala Yousafzai and Ni Yulan. 

Complete a poster on one of them using an A4 sized sheet (or larger if you wish) displaying the following information:

1)An image of Malala or Ni either drawn or printed.

2)The Human Right(s) which she focused on.

3)The country she was born in and any interesting facts about her family.

4)Details about her fears and successes.

5)Details about any awards she won or any books she wrote.
6)Where is she now and list some reasons why you may be impressed by her.

TAKE a picture of your poster when you have it completed and email it to me.

KEEP your poster safe as you will be using it to inform your class about your chosen activist when we return to school and, if you wish, we will display it in the classroom. Thank you.

 

SECOND YEAR CSPE:

REVIEW the various conservation projects(that you have studied during the year in the computer room) that are presently being carried out in Irish zoos and any other one country of your choice. 

Complete an A4 poster(or larger if you wish) displaying the facts that you have found out about these conservation programmes with information on the following:

1)Name the zoos referred to and define ‘CONSERVATION’.

2)What animals are these zoos focusing on and give details and statistics as to why.

3)Details of successful outcomes.

4)Can students contribute to the success of these projects in any way?

5)Any other interesting or relevant information that you would like to add.

COMPLETE a poster(A4 size or larger if you wish) on ‘THE FOOD PYRAMID’- you will find the information you need in your text book or online.n

1)Display the foods on each level and the portions one should consume.

2)Briefly explain what are some of the benefits of eating these foods

 for example; Eating fruit provides us with vitamin C and this is good for us because it is necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues.

3)Refer to the amount of fluid one should drink daily.

AN ANCIENT CIVILISATION: ROME.

Complete a poster on THE PEOPLE OF ROME .

1)Give 5 facts on the Patricians.

2)Give 5 facts on the Plebeians.

3)Accompany the facts with drawings of these people using page 51 of your textbook to help you.

4)Name one thing that the Patrician and Plebeian women had in common.

THIRD YEAR HISTORY:

This week ensure that you are able, without the help of notes, to write at least an A4 page consisting of ten to fourteen detailed facts (SRS-significant relevant statements) on each of the SIX  essays that you have been given to learn off in the last number of weeks(please see previous work).

  • ​Religion in Rome  (pages 60-61)
  • ​The Legacy of Rome(pages 62-63)​​

Complete questions 1-6 on page 59 and questions 1-5 on page 61 into your copies.

 

THIRD YEAR HISTORY:

Study and learn the following 3 ‘People in History’ essays (using your photocopies in your polypockets or your textbook).

  • ​​​​Martin Luther (a named religious reformer at the time of the Reformation)
  • ​​Christopher Columbus (a named leader on a voyage during the age of exploration)
  • ​George Washington (a leader in a revolution during the period 1771-1805)​​

Write out 10-14 bullet points for each essay in order to help you learn the essays more effectively.

ALSO:

READ the photocopy in your poly pocket titled ‘IRELAND: SOCIAL HISTORY -REVISION SUMMARY’ .

Using this photocopy, or chapter 30 in your textbook, write and learn 3-5 bullet points regarding each of the changes that took place in 20th century Ireland (ie. how it used to be and the changes that followed) under the following headings:

  • Rural Life.
  • Urban Life.
  • Sports and Leisure.
  • Transport.
  • Communication.
  • Role of Women.​
